Pahlaj Nihalani Gets Back Home After 28 Days Of Hospitalisation, Says, ‘Vomited A Lot Of Blood’; Reveals Only Shatrughan Sinha Was Aware Of His Struggle
Censor Board Chief and filmmaker Pahlaj Nihalani was hospitalised for almost a month but this news was kept closely guarded by his family till the time he was discharged. As per reports in ETimes the filmmaker was hospitalised at Mumbai's Nanavati Hospital after one night he felt uneasy and vomited blood. It was reported the filmmaker was suffering with chronic food poisoning. He was treated by Amitabh Bachchan’s doctor Dr. Jayant Barve. Nilani was discharged after 28 days and during this period his sons Vishal, Deepesh and Chirag were by his side every night, taking turns.

His wife Nita also maintained a distance, keeping in mind the COVID-19 risks. Also the family refrained from answering any calls from unknown numbers. It was only Shatrughan Sinha who was aware of it and visited him, he said, "Shatru visited me in the hospital, recently. We had largely kept it private." On being discharged he thanked the doctor and the staff for taking care of him, he said Dr. Barve ‘an angel in his life’ He also narrated the scary night, post which he was hospitalised.

He begins, "Suddenly, one night at about 3 am, I felt a bit uneasy and vomited a lot of blood. I was advised hospitalisation. It was a case of chronic food-poisoning but it was an emergency- and initially, I was kept in the ICU for about 5-6 days."


Following several tests of gastro-intestinal tract, he did sonography. Speaking about his recovery period he said, “I thought I'd go home in 2/3 days after I was out from the ICU.
